UBT Linemen Restore Power

In the spirit of Good Samaritans, linemen with the Utilities Board of Tuskegee (UBT) have helped hurricane-ravaged communities in Georgia and Florida.

Tommy Ray, David Griffin, Tyrice Sanders, Anthony Calloway, Kenneth Chandler, Raymond Hall and Clifton Adams were sent to Griffin, Georgia on September 12, 2017. Three days later, the UBT workers were in Polk County Florida, population 602,000 where 75% of the residents were without power.

Gerald Long, UBT General Manager said, “Our community could afford to send linemen because our system was spared during the recent weather events and is still running well.” He added that UBT has other linemen that are servicing the local community. Long further explained that UBT will be reimbursed for costs related to helping the distressed communities including salaries, gas, meals, lodging and truck hours.
