“Unshakable Faith” Book Review

“Unshakable Faith” book review is a candid and heartfelt assessment by Omar Waller, who shares how and why the book affected him in deep and profund ways. ECHOboom has posted an excerpt from his blog, to give you a sense of his perspective.

Unshakeable faith, this book is aptly titled. Several moments in this book brought me to tears. The lives of Booker T. Washington and the life of George Washington Carver provide a quintessential look at what the American Dream should represent. These two men, both born as property of another man, by the end of their life, rose to fame through mastery, dedication, and skill. As an alumnus of Tuskegee University, the sacrificial lives of these two men speaks to my heart in a way that I never imagined. Without knowledge of this detailed history as a student on campus of Tuskegee University, I often reveled at stories told about Booker and Carver, but never truly felt their impact on my soul until receiving a detailed picture, painted by John Perry with magnificent prose. His work highlights the importance of biographical novels. I read Up From Slavery and visited Carver’s museum. Yet, an unbiased, fuller perspective often provides a more accurate depiction of an individual’s life. Perry provided the facts and largely leaves it up to the reader to make their own conclusions. Perry flawlessly merged the lives of these two men.”
