Spring Forward with Healing Arts

Spring Forward with Healing Arts is an Invitation to a Better You.

On behalf of Nature’s Garden for Victory and Peace (NGVP), we warmly “WELLcome” you to the 2018 2nd Annual Spring Equinox Healing Arts Festival. We are a Community that highlights the intersection between Art, Nature, Organic Agriculture, Healing, Social Wellbeing and Civic Engagement.

The single most important tangible asset that NGVP possesses is a 25-acre Land Trust, set in a natural environment. The Land, as a milieu, is a teaching and learning laboratory. The intrinsic qualities of the soil, trees, hills, animals and pond enhance the enjoyment of fellowship while inspiring, healing and learning. Obviously, it is the land and the work of the gardeners’ hands that produce and sustain the organic garden and food production system that we intend to expand upon. It is also the land that provides recreational opportunities where all physical fitness, seasonal festivals, fishing and canoeing will occur.

We could not have chosen a more auspicious time of the year to host the Healing Arts Festival than on the occasion of the Spring Equinox, which officially occurs on March 17, 2018. The spring is a time of new beginnings; it is the time when the light and the dark are equally balanced in the heavens and on the earth. Everything above and below, including you and me, is experiencing great but subtle changes. This naturally occurring transformation is often overlooked because the knowledge of our relationship to nature has been tragically altered. During the springtime we sow seeds in order to produce vegetation; similarly, we should sow the seeds of our soul’s purpose in the form of meaningful goals. It is our hope that this festival will plant the seeds of self-knowledge, of self-care, health and healing, and the true meaning of Community.

NGVP is a holistic, intentional, learning community that builds upon the land to invoke health-healing, victory and peace in members of the community. NGVP prides itself on being special; special because of the shared vision of the people involved. We are holistic because we recognize the mind-body-spirit-soul connection in all things; we are intentional in that we seek meaning and purpose in all that we do; we are a learning community because we collectively study, seeking greater insights through disciplined practice and critical analysis of the past and present in preparation for at least seven generations. Holism, intentionality and learning are essential components to promote human, organizational and social transformation. In addition to the three components mentioned, the primary tool used to facilitate transformation and social wellbeing is Art. Art is defined broadly to mean, any human activity or occupation that is performed with mindful- imagination, and social responsibility.

In recent years, art has been marginalized, underappreciated and devalued by modern societies and the legislation that all too often impacts public education. For this reason, it is the mission of NGVP to provide solutions by promoting land-based art initiatives in both contemporary conceptions of art, and in the broad NGVP definition of art. We believe human activity imbued with mindfulness, beauty and social responsibility has the power to transform and to heal.
