June 19 – 25 were the dates for the 2017 Paris Air Show and the biggest aerospace, aviation and defense companies in the world were conducting business there. Leonardo scored $100 million in contracts involving Germany and Spain.
This corporate giant has a broad reach including a presence in the United States, under the name Leonardo DRS.
This story dates back to Italy in 1948, when the original company was started under the name Finmeccanica.
With the acquisition of DRS Technologies in 2008, Leonardo strengthened its position in the defense industry on a global scale and also emboldened its presence in the U.S. market.
In 2016, the company changed its name to Leonardo, in honor of Leonardo Da Vinci “…innovator in his times and recognized as a universal symbol of genius and creativity applied to all fields of inquiry.”
Tuskegee has high hopes for the future tied to Leonardo DRS.
