Tuskegee First United Methodist Church (UMC) Invites the Community to “The Star: A Journey to Christmas Eve Service”
A message from Pastor Elizabeth Whatley
Everyone in the community is invited to attend Tuskegee First United Methodist Church for a Christmas Eve service based on the themes of Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace called The Star: A Journey to Christmas, at 5:30 pm December 24, 2017.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, or so the old song goes. Yet it doesn’t always feel that way—the hectic holiday schedule, family pressures, and emotional wounds are just a few reasons. But Tuskegee First UMC sees the Christmas season as one that offers a unique opportunity to experience God’s love and grace in the midst of real life. Just like that first Christmas when Mary and Joseph took the long trip to Bethlehem and the Savior of the world was born in an unexpected way, God shows up surprisingly in our lives today and in ways, we often least expect on our journeys.
“What it’s really all about? Peace and joy, a star and a manger. Our congregation would love for the Tuskegee community to come help us unwrap the true meaning with us this Christmas. Gathering together to experience the real gift of Christmas, the unconditional love God gave the world 2000 years ago,” said Elizabeth Whatley, pastor.
In a season often marked by frenzied busyness, it is also an opportunity to set aside time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. This service is designed to help us place our focus on a far greater story than our own—the story of following the true light of the world.
With cookies and cocoa, carols, the lighting of the Advent wreath, and a free book for visitors, this event is the perfect opportunity for families throughout the community to come together to celebrate this special night in a meaningful way.
