The Macon County delegation that will visit Italy is going there to observe the production side of Leonardo.
The delegation leaves on Monday, November 13th and returns to Alabama on Thursday, November 16th. While in Italy, they will visit a production plant similar to the facility that will be built at Moton Field in Tuskegee “When We Win” the T-100 contract.
The Macon County community has been excited about the potential partnership with Leonardo since the company announced last March that Tuskegee would be home base for a $300 million manufacturing facility. Jobs will be created during the construction phase and hundreds more jobs will be filled when the plant opens.
A decision from the U.S. Air Force is expected in 2018.
